I ll be happy if u help me find my choose , all the bests
Unix or Linux ?
Learn to work with Linux. It's easily available, easy to install, widely used, and provides a good base for learning *nix systems. 80pct of what you learn on Linux will apply directly to Unix, and the other 20pct will be minor variations from Linux to Unix.. or Linux (A) to Linux (B)... or to FreeBSD or Solaris or AIX or...
Just be sure to start with a fairly vanilla distribution like Ubuntu, Slackware, or Debian: no funky, x86-64 optimized to run off a cd and store persistent changes on a USB stick using a new package system and running the whole OS from under 100MB of RAM- style distribution, ok?
Reply:Unix presents some unique issues -- there are over 50 variations of the OS and not all are compatible. Linux on the other hand is making some inroads into WinTel and you will find that the demand for programming skills in this OS is growing. You want to give yourself the opportunity to work in the growing environment and I'd suggest Linux first.
Reply:linux is based off unix. linux is the more popular of the 2, unix is less hacked as windows has most hacks. your young u say so learn it all u have time...
Reply:UNIX is better.
Reply:Ubuntu Linux is the easiest and it's free. www.ubuntu.com
Reply:Instead of thinking of it as Unix or Linux try thinking of it as *nix. Much of the code is going to portable between both systems with little or no modification so instead of focusing on the platform how about just focusing on writing efficient, secure code.
Keep in mind that most organizations are Microsoft shops so that is the majority of the jobs in the market. It's good that you are trying to understand multiple platforms but don't let those Microsoft skills degrade too much.
Reply:if u did work so much in unix u should now it's more secure and advanced.... both are good for learning programming, pretty same commands
