Learning unix?

what software that i can to download to run in intell processor as a free software to learn unix.

Learning unix?
I'd say download a free version of linux. it should have enough for you to learn the basic unix commands and allow you to learn shell scripting along with using things like awk, grep and sed. after that if you want you can invest money into getting a professional copy of either red hat or SuSe linux and try learning about administration.

O'Reilley had a couple of really good books on UNIX systems administration and Network administration. The good thing about UNIX/LINUX there is no end to how much you can grow. also compared to windows its relatively cheaper to learn UNIX since most of the software come packaged with the OS and you won't have to spend money on software. For example: Suse linux comes with a copy of Star Office (very similar to MS Office) it also comes with a C++ compiler and a plethora of other languages. Enjoy

u should switch to Linux
Reply:Depending on your needs, CygWin could be ok.

If you wish to get more experience working with UNIX derivatives, you could try some LiNUX flavor, or FreeBSD. But, be ready to repartition your Hard disk.
