Any tips on how I get Unix and have it just running on a regular computer or dual boot would be very helpful
How do I get unix os?
Unix is an operating system made in the 1960's and 1970's (originally called the Unix Time-Sharing System) that is only available now via other similar OS distributions, called "Unix-like"...or OS's that are even closer to the original Unix -- such as BSD such as Sun Solaris or FreeBSD -- or anything in the System III %26amp; V family such as HP-UX, AIX, UnixWare, or IRIX.
Unix itself is no longer available. There is, however, a "Single Unix Specification" which is the collective name of a family of standards for computer operating systems to qualify for the name "Unix".
As for some popular Unix-like operating systems, check out Linux or one of the many other open-source OS's that tend to be true to the Unix philosophy and mindset. Here's a comparison of OS's (Note: this comparison contains some non-Unix OS's) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_...
Reply:You can download REDHAT Linux from many companies, just google it. Sometimes you get free CD with PC magazine but that is not very often.
When you install Linux, it will give you option of dual boot.
Reply:download solaris. It's free and works on intel based PCs.
