I have a laptop that has a pretty small hard drive - about 5g or 6g. Well, I know a bare copy of Unix can fit in a 2 g space or something. I know that trying to install KDE on this computer is utter retarded. However, is there a smaller desktop program? something simple? not too fancy?
Installing a desktop on UNIX?
A bare copy of Linux can fit into 50 Mb ;-)

KDE will easily fit into 2 GB, but if you want a more lightweight graphical environment, try fluxbox.

Reply:For Unix, try a net install of FreeBSD or NetBSD and choose Xfce for the default desktop. You will need to make a copy of the installation handbook. Each one will fit on your limited space.
